Distributed control for a vacuum station
Identical CAN bus boards that link the turbo pump and vacuum gauges to the computer over a single USB, with a documented protocol.
Each instrument used to be run from its own serial port. Each board forwards its instrument’s traffic over the bus, and a web console controls everything from the browser. The protocol is documented so the lab can write its own software.
What we did
- DATACAN board with CAN, USB and RS-232, the same for every node
- Node and USB bridge firmware
- Per-instrument web consoles and protocol manual
