LIBS synchronizer for multi-pulse lasers
Delay generator that counts the laser’s micro-pulses and triggers the spectrometer from the chosen pulse. Our own development.
In a multi-pulse, passively Q-switched laser the micro-pulses are not evenly spaced. A regular delay generator starts on the first one and the reading misses the plasma. This unit detects each micro-pulse through an optical fiber and counts the delay from the chosen one.
We ran delay versus spectrum studies on copper and lead samples.
What we did
- Electronics with programmable logic (MAX II CPLD) and USB
- VHDL firmware and LabVIEW software
- Manual, characterization and Cu and Pb spectra studies
- Patent application MX/a/2018/014622, published in 2020 (not pursued further)
