Magnetic crawler for guided waves
Magnetic carrier for 8 Teletest guided-wave inspection modules on flat steel surfaces.
The crawler holds the modules with on/off magnets and presses them against the part with an inflatable bladder. We designed it in bent sheet metal, with a CNC-cut rubber mat and 3D-printed parts, and built it.
We later designed a pneumatic actuator to press each head individually; it has its own page.
What we did
- Sheet-metal tray design, drawings and manufacturing

- 3D-printed handles and spacers
- Connection board for the module with MCX RF connectors
